Road Rash for MS-DOS

Road Rash DOS Download Front
Game Review (written by Theblackyak) Added on: 5 Feb 2012
What wasn’t to love in EA’s Road Rash? Back in the day, it seemed like racing games from the coin operated arcade conversions were a dime a dozen, but not very many centered around bikes. That’s right. Road Rash, for those of you unfamiliar with this classic title, is dirt biking with a twist. You have weapons.

The basic gist of the game is to race around the course and finish in front of the other racers or Rashers, as they are called in the game. You can do your best to race clean and use your mad driving skills to win OR you can play a little dirty and start using weaponry to take out your opponents. All is fair in love and Road Rash, however, and what you do unto them, they will do unto you. Be prepared for some crazy ballistae if you choose to open up your own can of whoop @$$.

You will have five circuits to race upon, each one a little bit different and possibly more dangerous than the last…depending on your violent choices and driving abilities. You also have a choice of several bikes. There are cops that will pull you over if you aren’t careful and you will have to pay a fine before you can get into any more races. Crashing will also keep you out of races, whether you wipe yourself out or your opposition gives you an unfriendly hand at that. Too much damage puts you in the pits, so race hard and watch out!

Game Review (written by Dark-parallax) Added on: 2 Feb 2007
Road Rash is such a freaking cool game. I remember I used to play it all the time when I was a little kid. I used to love racing games a lot and this had so much attitude that I thought it was the greatest. I still love racing games now and seeing this here just brings back so many memories. Even though it’s a pretty old game the graphics are still pretty good, at least they’re nice to look at and not in overly bright colours or anything.
I used to have fun not even playing properly. I would just drive around all over the place and crash into people and get a huge kick out of it. Kind of weird but it was hilarious at the time. Well I think it would still be hilarious now too. I also used to love that it was motorcycles and not like the whole generic race car thing that you get in most other racing games, even nowadays. I thought it was kind of different and more… appealing I guess is the word I’m looking for.
I also used to really like the music, I think but I don’t remember how it sounds anymore. I used to get really frustrated when I wasn’t winning and I’d scream a whole lot. This game made me pretty mad sometimes but it was still a whole lot of fun anyway. It had great replay value so I never minded playing it over and over.
The coolest thing about this game is that you got to fight with the other racers! At first you start out with just your bare hands but along the way you can acquire different weapons like police nightsticks (I think they’re called) to beat up the other racers. If that’s not awesome, I don’t know what is! It’s also one of those games where it’s actually FUN to crash. Really funny. You also have to dodge cars that are sharing the road with you, which is cool because it makes it more realistic.
I think it’s a later version of the game where there’s not just a set track but like entire roads and different areas to navigate through. Pretty much a virtual world that was there to explore. I used to just go off and do my own thing and have lots of fun with it. Pretty cool, like games like Grand Theft Auto are nowadays, with whole areas set up, which is more realistic (and to me that’s much more entertaining).
