Guilty Gear X may not be the most best known title in the Sega Dreamcast stable, but that certainly shouldn’t count it out, especially for fans of the classic anime and manga graphic titles for which the Dreamcast was somewhat well known. Guilty Gear X is a side scrolling, action packed game that features just this type of graphic. It is a fighting or martial arts game and actually got its start as a coin operated arcade game before finding its way to the Sega Dreamcast, as well as the PlayStation 2, GameBoy Advance and the home computer.
Guilty Gear X is a classic case of human invention gone horribly wrong. Like many games with a science fiction theme, Guilty Gear X is filled with artificially intelligent creatures, the greatest of which is the Gear. Of course, when people engineered them, they were not expecting them to rebel and try taking over the world. In this game, a single Gear named Justice is able to transfer his will and is capable of free thought. He is destroyed in tournament and life seems good…at least until a second renegade Gear comes along. Fearing a repeat of Justice, the humans organize another tournament with huge stakes to lure the mechs to their doom. The tournament will be the format of the game, creating a versus style fighting game, filled with mechs and other fun characters.
