Game Review (written by Theblackyak) Added on: 17 Feb 2012
One of the most notable fighting games in the history of fighting games, Mortal Kombat for Nintendo’s Game Boy is a port of the classic…which in turn was a port of the coin operated arcade original. It was a well-known title on every platform and was quite popular on the Game Boy.
Mortal Kombat is set up like a tournament. This fighting game offers very straight up versus style fighting action instead of a beat em up where you are out there pummeling everything. The fights are calculated and strategic with each contestant having unique moves and skills of which to be wary.
The same goes for the character you select to play. Each player has a core of punches and kicks, and also unique moves that can be accessed with enough power. Of course, the game became infamous for its blood and exceptional violence in the killing blows or “fatalities”. These finishing moves were spectacular and only accessible when the opponent was on his or her last leg.
