Super Mario Bros. NES Video
Game Review (written by Theblackyak) Added on: 7 Feb 2012
Super Mario Bros., or really any of the Mario games, are bound to be shoo-ins for ROMs. After all, finding a retro gamer who did NOT own these games in their original formats is going to be similar to finding Bigfoot. Might be out there…might not be…impossible to find, regardless.
In Super Mario Bros., in case you have been living in a cave for years, is a platform game that featured the little dude who would become everyone’s favorite plumber and Nintendo’s flagship character, Mario. In it, the Princess has been kidnapped by the evil monster thingy baddie, Bowser and it is up to Mario and his plumber brother Luigi to get her back.
You will have to complete level after level, eventually reaching Bowser and the princess at the end of the game. You will find various power-ups to help you on your way. Super mushrooms increase the size of your character and his power. Fire flowers give him the sudden and inexplicable ability to shoot fireballs at the bad guys. Starman makes him invincible for a while. While these power-ups are not in play, Mario will have to dispatch his enemies by bouncing on them and kicking them away, or running beneath the platforms they are on, jumping up and popping them from below.
Once he gets past all of the obstacles, he will have a chance to jump at the famous flag at the end of the level for big points. Find shortcuts and secret rooms for even more bonus coins and a higher score. Save the princess. Be a hero.
