Was there a home video gaming platform that did NOT see a rendition of Disney’s Toy Story as a video game? Not many, and certainly not the original PlayStation from Sony. It received its chance to piggy back on the hit movie’s popularity in 2001 with Disney/Pixar Toy Story Racer, a slightly different take on the other Toy Story movies.
Toy Story Racer is a carting game that is based on the movie Toy Story. Unlike the other Toy Story games that are primarily platformers starring Woody, Toy Story Racer allows you to play as one of twelve fun Toy Story characters. There are eighteen courses that you will get to race. The cute part about the actual racing, other than the fun animated graphics, lively color and fast paced action, is the fact that all eighteen of the race tracks are based on locations that a fan will easily recognize from the film.
Toy Story Racer is a fully licensed title and was rated E for everyone, making it a popular choice for gamers of all ages. Like the other games that harbored the Toy Story title, it was developed by Travelers Tales (UK).
