Released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in the middle nineties, EarthBound is a turn based role playing game that is fairly simple and adaptable to RPGers of all ages. While some of the features are more complex and will appeal to adult gamers, the cute manga/anime graphics are very attractive to children, as well.
EarthBound is the sequel to the game Mother and features Ness as the protagonist. As Ness, you will have to help conquer the many enemies that are visible on the screen in turn-based combat. You will have a party of comrades to assist you, with each one having unique abilities and attacks to keep the interesting and often potent in battle.
EarthBound is one of the few games that features a rolling hit point meter. When Ness or an ally takes an attack, the amount of damage is predetermined, but it isnít all taken off the charts at once. Instead, it gradually leaks away, sort of like bleeding to death after a nasty stabbing. Therefore, it is possible to survive enormously damaging attacks by counteracting them with efficient, battle ending attacks of your own.
