Released for the SNES in the early nineties, Sim City is close to the ultimate simulation game, if you like builders. You will play the part of the mayor of a new and budding city and will be responsible for all facets of its development, ranging from population happiness to pollution. You will have to build areas of employment and industry, places for recreation and also human services. You will control “the control” and will need to build fire departments and police stations, as well as devise efficient and cost effective methods of transportation. Responding to emergencies and crime will fall to you. Basically, every need of the people is up to you to address.
And what will you get in return? Aside from the understanding that you are awesome at gaming, you will be rewarded with an approval rating that will allow you to continue on indefinitely as the city’s mayor. The game will grow more difficult as time moves on and virgin landscape gets consumed, forcing you to make tough choices about building or even destroying the blocks you have created.
